24 Hours Volleyball Marathon

Put 13 and 14 January 2024 in big letters in your calendar! From January 13th 12:00 until January 14th 12:00 a total of 32 teams will play 24 hours non stop volleyball, and you can be part of this!

Who do we do this for?

The marathon is an initiative of Let’s Keep the Ball Flying. Let’s Keep The Ball Flying is dedicated to using the power of volleyball to create positive change in communities around the world. They aim to create thriving volleyball communities that inspire a new generation of volleyball players and fans who share our passion for using volleyball to create a better world. Half of the money raised will be donated to them.

The other half of the money goes to Serve the City Tilburg. Serve the City Tilburg started in 2010 based on the belief that they can make a difference for Tilburg. This organisation is run by student volunteers who are committed to contributing to the well-being of the city. They organise volunteer projects that you can be part of – alone or with your friends.

Important information

Registration fee
The goal is to raise money for the two great charities. This is why we will ask for a registration fee of €35 per team. Once you sign up with your team, you will play for 90 minutes against an appropriate opponent. When you arrive in the hall you will also receive a small goodie bag.

Theme

Since you will commit to raising money for charity, we see you as a real hero! This is why our theme of the marathon will be: superheroes! Come play in your best superhero outfit!

Location

The marathon will take place in the Sportscentre of Tilburg University in hall 1. Academielaan 5, Tilburg.

Sign up information

PLEASE READ THIS TEXT CAREFULLY BEFORE SIGNING UP:

When signing up, you can indicate which time slots you are not available. We will create the match schedule as soon as possible after the sign ups. We do this because we want to avoid a beginners team playing against a skilled team.

You can sign up as a team or as an individual if you cannot find a team. PLEASE NOTE: signing up as an individual does not guarantee a place in a team. Only if there is a team looking for players we can add you, if not, we unfortunately cannot add you. Teams can indicate if they are looking for extra players when signing up. This will also mean that after signing up as an individual it might take some time before you hear when you can play. If something changes in your availability in the meantime you can send us an email.

We strongly advise teams to be with at least 9 or 10 people. This is because there will be no timeouts or switching sides of the field, since this will interrupt the 24 hours playing. So if anyone gets tired, injured or just needs a break, you’d have to have enough players on the side to replace them. If you are not able to create a team of at least 9, you can indicate you are looking for extra players when signing up and we will fill your team with the individual sign ups (if available) up to 9 people.

Are you eventually not available anymore? Free cancellation deadline is December 23rd 18:00. After this moment, you will have to pay the registration fee.

If you would like to play in multiple timeslots, you can indicate that in the last question of the sign up sheet. This is only possible if there are timeslots left.

AT THIS MOMENT WE ARE FULL! YOU CAN STILL SIGN UP FOR THE WAITLIST BY UNDERNEATH FORMS.

What if we’re full?

We try to create the match schedule as soon as possible after the sign ups open. However we are unsure how many teams will sign up at once. We will work with first come first serve, so sign up as soon as possible. Once we’re full, you will receive a notification that you’re waitlisted and on which place on the waitlist you are. We will also let you know this as soon as possible.

How will we raise the money?

The first amount of money raised will of course come from the registration fee of the teams, however we would like to raise a lot more! This is why we accept a lot of sponsors. Are you interested in sponsoring this event? Or do you maybe know a company that could be interested? Send an email to macogepidae@gmail.com and we will inform you about the different sponsor packages we have.

Besides sponsors, there will also be (online) crowdfunding. This will open a week before the event and end on January 14th 12:00. The link to this crowdfunding can be found on this webpage or on our social media.
